QUEST
Quality Utilization and Enrichment of Student Talents Jennifer Stark's email [email protected] QUEST is the gifted program for Seven Bar Elementary School. This program is taught by two teachers Jennifer Stark in room #214. She is at Seven Bar full time. Repo is her little sidekick. He comes to school on occasion to see what we are learning! Patti Devereaux splits her time between two schools. She is at Seven Bar every Wednesday and Friday. She comes in the morning of Thursdays. She spends the rest of her time teaching gifted at Dennis Chavez Elementary School. The QUEST program is a pull-out program where students in grades K - 5 come to Mrs. Stark's classroom for part of the day every week day. Students are grouped with age appropriate peers. In the gifted classroom we study math, literacy, writing, science, social studies, critical thinking, and creativity. We will also focus on the gifted strands: Thinking Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Communication, Independent Learning, Creativity, Interest Development, and Self Understanding. Parents will receive monthly newsletters from the QUEST teacher via email. The QUEST teacher (Jennifer Stark) will attend both the fall and spring student/parent/teacher conferences as well as schedule and attend a minimum of one IEP meeting every school year. If you wish to contact me with any questions you are always welcome to send an email. I check my email a minimum of three times a day during the school week. It is my hope to build a strong relationship with every student in the QUEST program as well as with their entire family. All fifth graders who qualify for gifted services will attend a progression IEP meeting this year where we will discuss their progress in fifth grade as well as discuss what programs will be available to them for Middle School for the year 2018-2019. The progression IEP meeting will be held close to the one year anniversary date from their last IEP. In the past, the middle school personnel have attended these meetings. The district has changed this policy, and the middle school teachers are no longer required to attend progression meetings for 5th graders. I will still invite them to join us for your child's IEP meeting in hopes that they can attend. Prior to the meeting, I will collect all the information about the receiving middle school and share that information with you. |
